Laura Lancaster exhibited some of her paintings in the Priestman gallery which were specifically made for previous exhibitions she has had, which range from around the world from Hong Kong to America.

Her inspirations included Francis Bacon and Willem De Kooning which is very apparent in her style of work, interestingly Laura takes her inspiration from the sources of old photographs and snapshots she finds from charity shops and markets, which is ghostly enough in itself as times although this is made emphasised by her thick brush strokes and dripping textures which have been said to create an almost sinister effect to her work.

After looking more into her work I paticularly like this painting below, called 'Untitled' and created in 2015, the thickness of the brush strokes almost create an abstract style to the work, although the figures are easily seen it looks very haunting and is very effective.
