Marjolaine is a lecturer of photography and video art at the University of Sunderland, she explores family relationships and has a strong interest in family, society and memories.

After being exposed to her series of photographs titled Growing up in the new age which explores families through different countries and cultures through generations I was really interested in a particular photograph 'A proper kind of house' (shown below) which contrasts to other photos showing a lower class household showing her interest in society and social classes which is probably because of her background living inbetween two very different households, a small flat in London and her family home in Belgium.

A lot of photos within this collection are taken from a lower perspective as though a younger person has a camera and is taking photos of random everyday objects in their own home that they find normal. Or maybe a small hint of from when Marjolaine was little and how different so many things were which seemed normal to her.
