For this crit I felt like it was a good variation of work, Eleanor had created small paintings around A2 in size and intricate drawings which looked like DNA cells and flesh, my favourite of the series was the detailed sketch which was very symmetrical of skulls and bones it was avery interesting series and very abstract and surreal. This worked well with the fantasy style painting by Lauren, on canvas it consisted of a very old and miserable looking santa, using cold colours he seemed to be sick of Christmas, a turkey in the dustbin next to him on the street and broken bottle in his hand made him look like he didn't want the same job every year anymore. It was almost comical in an interesting ironic sort of way, since we associate warm colours and happiness with Christmas.

On the other wall was a square sheet of steel and a painted canvas by Jack, they looked almost like negative images or the reverse of eachother, the colours looked inverted and showed the contrast of warm and cold colour palettes, the orangey red piece had a thick black line scribbled all over the top and the grey/ blue piece had a very thin and more controlled white line dribbled over it, it shows the difference in how expressionism can be controlled, they reminded me of Jackson Pollock pieces.
